Chocolate Gumby psilocybe cubensis spores are a distinctive hybrid developed by Dave Wombat, created by crossing two of his notable isolates: El Choco, a dark-pigmented mutation of B , and Gumby, an offshoot of the unstable Melmak TP lineage. This hybridization resulted in a mushroom with unique morphological features, unusual growth patterns, and striking visual appeal.The caps display chocolate pigmentation inherited from El Choco, while early pins reveal a gumdrop or bucket-helmet shape reminiscent of Gumby. Gills are notably thick and branching, sometimes forming smaller gills alongside larger ones to create a fractal-like appearance. Stipes (stems) are dense, heavily veined, and wood-like in texture. The fruits often grow as large, spaced-apart specimens rather than a full canopy flush, and can develop lumpy “brain-like” clusters or inside-out gill formations. From pinning to harvest, development can take up to a month, making this strain a rewarding subject for dedicated microscopy research.Microscopically, Chocolate Gumby spores are subellipsoid and have 4-spored basidia.
