Stavangerflint AS was an factory producing earthenware in operation from 1949 until 1979 in Stavanger in Norway.[1]Stavangerflint potteryThey produced pottery and table ware for domestic use and the professional market from 1949 under the name of Stavanger Fajansefabrikk A/S . Their founders were Trygve Brekke (1908–1994) and Trygve Pedersen (1887-1969) Stavanger Fajansefabrikk used a clay mixture and manufacturing process which was marketed as Stavangerflint, The recipe they used was based on a recipe developed by Josiah Wedgwood in England in around 1750. and this helped them in presenting the factory’s products as strong and durable earthenware, which of course they proved to be. As you can still find beautiful Stavangerflint pieces like this in use some 70 years laterThe name changed to Stavanglerflint AS in and they continued to produce beautiful designs until 1968 when they merged with Figgjo Fjanse AS. It closed in 1979 and all production was transferred to what is now Figgjo AS.
